Pultruded FRP grating is manufactured using the pultrusion process. This technique involves continuously pulling a mixture of glass fibers and resin through a heated mold, forming profiles with high structural consistency and durability. This continuous production method ensures product uniformity and high quality. Compared to traditional manufacturing techniques, it allows for more precise control over fiber content and resin ratio, thereby optimizing the mechanical properties of the final product.

The load-bearing components feature I-shaped or T-shaped profiles connected by specialized round rods as crossbars. This design achieves an optimal balance between strength and weight. In structural engineering, I-beams are widely recognized as highly efficient structural members. Their geometry concentrates most material in the flanges, delivering exceptional resistance to bending stresses while maintaining low self-weight.

Special rod seats connect the crossbars, and through specific assembly techniques, a perforated panel is created. The surface of pultruded grating features grooves for slip resistance or is coated with an anti-slip matte finish. Depending on practical application requirements, diamond-patterned plates or sand-coated plates can be bonded to the grating to create a closed-cell design. These characteristics and designs make it an ideal alternative for chemical plants, wastewater treatment facilities, power plants, offshore platforms, and other locations requiring resistance to corrosive environments or strict conductivity requirements.

Cutting and Installation

BEIHAI® FRP Grating

BEIHAI® FRP grating is lightweight and high-strength, allowing for cutting without disintegration or alteration of its mechanical properties. Grating panels can be easily cut or perforated using handheld diamond-tipped cutters or standard steel saw blades. Drilling holes in grating is also feasible with electric drills, though turning or tapping operations are not permitted. To minimize cutting waste, conduct a thorough analysis of on-site dimensions and grating specifications prior to cutting to ensure maximum cost efficiency.

Each edge of the grating must be supported by at least 40mm of bearing surface. When grating panels serve as trench covers, no fixing clamps are required since trenches typically feature a stop edge. However, when used as structural walkways, each grating panel must employ at least four fixing clamps, and the bottom of the grating-to-grating connection must be supported by secondary beams.

Three standard clamp types are used for securing grating to frames and connecting grating panels. All clamps are available in stainless steel or hot-dip galvanized finishes.
