The charging process of an electric vehicle requires the conversion of alternating current (AC) from an external power source to direct current (DC) stored in the battery.DC charging piles, on the other hand, complete the AC to DC conversion process inside the charging pile, supplying DC power directly to the electric vehicle battery.
DC charging piles directly convert AC to DC to quickly charge the EV's battery with high power. This method bypasses the limitations of the on-board charger and charges the battery directly, resulting in faster charging speeds. DC charging piles have high charging power, usually above 60kW, and therefore charge faster, ideally charging the battery to full capacity in 20-150 minutes.
